How to Get Dark Mode on WhatsApp Desktop app for Windows and Mac
The dark mode is the new trend among smartphone and computer users. It makes everything look beautiful while giving less strain to your eyes as well as saving your battery. For this same reason, many apps and service providers have implemented dark mode in the past few years. Big names like Apple, Google, Windows, Facebook, and Twitter have all added a dark theme to their mobile app. But WhatsApp, on the other hand, is yet to add a dark mode to its app. WhatsApp is apparently testing a dark mode with few closed beta users, but there is no word when or if the dark theme is coming to regular WhatsApp users. In this article, let’s talk about WhatsApp desktop app for Windows and Mac and how you can activate dark mode on those apps. What is WhatsApp desktop? WhatsApp Desktop is a desktop client which lets you access your WhatsApp from your computer. It acts as a link between your phone and computer and relays all the messages from your phone to your computer. By using WhatsApp desktop, which is also known as WhatsApp web, you can send messages, reply to messages, check status, and more from your computer.
How to Enable Dark Mode on WhatsApp Desktop/Web on Windows And Mac
WhatsApp is officially yet to release dark mode for its app and desktop tool. But there are many third-party theme mods that you can use and turn your boring looking WhatsApp desktop into a gorgeous black-themed dark WhatsApp. In this article, we are going to use a simple theme mod developed by an XDA user who goes by the username ‘m4heshd.’ He explained in his Github page that this tool doesn’t alter any WhatsApp core code instead t just adds an extra layer of theme on top of WhatsApp to make it dark themed. Why we choose this mod over others? Because this tool is an open-source project which means every part of this tool is accessible by everyone, which means he can not just sneak any malicious code to read your chats.
Before you proceed to install the tool, it is important to note that this tool only works with the WhatsApp desktop app which you have downloaded from the WhatsApp website. If you have installed it from the Apple App Store or from Microsoft Store for Mac and Windows respectively, then this won’t work. You may have to uninstall the app and download from WhatsApp official page. After doing that, follow the following steps:
- Download the WhatsApp Dark Mode tool from this page.
- Make sure to download the Windows version if you use a Windows computer or the Mac version if you use an Apple computer.
- After downloading, unzip the file using your favorite unzip tool.
- Run the WADark.exe for Windows or WADark for Mac by double-clicking on it.
- Wait for a couple of minutes (1-2 minutes max), and you will see your WhatsApp desktop app turned dark mode.

How to Go Back to Noram WhatsApp Desktop?
I don’t know why you would do that but if that is what you want you can easily revert back to your normal WhatsApp desktop.
Rerun the theme mod by double-clicking on WADark.exe for Windows or WADark for Mac. This should revert you back to your default light theme WhatsApp desktop.
