OnePlus Launches OnePlus 7T Pro & It Isn’t Coming to the USA

Last month OnePlus had launched the OnePlus 7 Pro, and now yesterday OnePlus launched yet another flagship device OnePlus 7T Pro. While the 7T was the successor of OnePlus 7, the 7T Pro is the successor of higher-end OnePlus 7 Pro. The ‘T‘ series always has been a minor upgrade from the base or main variant, and this is no different. There is also a OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren edition, which OnePlus has produced in collaboration with McLaren, a well-known automotive company. Here is everything you need to know about the newly launched OnePlus 7T Pro, starting with its specifications:

OnePlus 7T Pro Features and Specification

As I said, the 7T Pro brings minor upgrades over its predecessor OnePlus 7 Pro. The build and look are almost identical with that similar full-screen display with curves to the edges. It also features the same motorized pop-up camera at the front and the same in-display fingerprint scanner.

Display:

The OnePlus 7T Pro features a 6.67 inches QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 3120x1440p resolution. The display comes with 90Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+ support with 100000:1 contrast ratio. Does this specification sound familiar to you? It is because the OnePlsus 7 Pro has the same specification, no changes at all.

Just as we have seen with the OnePlus 7 Pro, the display curves to the edges which OnePlus likes to call “edge-to-edge display.”

Internat Hardware:

This is the only part that has seen some improvements over the OnePlus 7 Pro. The new OnePlus 7T Pro now comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ chip, which OnePlus claims give a 4% boost in performance than the OnePlus 7 Pro. The GPU end got some significant bump. The new OnePlus 7T Pro gets 673MHz GPU in comparison to 585MHz that is available on OnePlus 7 Pro. This bump gives OnePlus 7T Pro a 15% improvement in graphics performances. Besides CPU and GPU, OnePlus has also changed the storage and RAM on the OnePlus 7T Pro. The 7T Pro comes with 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.0 storage and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM option. There is no 6GB variant anymore for OnePlus 7T Pro.

Camera:

Many were expecting some drastic changes in the camera department, but it has remained unchanged for the most part. OnePlus 7T Pro features the same triple camera setup as the OnePlus 7 Pro with the same configuration. So, you have a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor, 8 MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, and an ultra-wide lens with 16 MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture.

In the front, it has 16 MP Sony IMX471 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The only thing that has changed in the camera department is the laser autofocus that OnePlus has added in the back that offers a fast and smooth focus even in the low light.

Software:

OnePlus 7T Pro Software

The new OnePlus 7T Pro comes with Oxygen OS 10 and Android 10 out of the box. The OxygenOS 10 comes with a few new features such as a new gallery app that has iOS 13 like memory feature, a Zen mode to give you a break from all those distracting apps and focus on things that matter to you, and Android 10 new gestures. OnePlus nailed it when it comes to software experience with their Oxygen OS. OnePlus also acknowledged this fact on stage and said Oxygen OS is one of the top three reasons why people buy OnePlus devices. That says a lot about the software experience on OnePlus devices. That being said, OxygenOS 10 is anyway coming to devices such as OnePlus 7, 7T, 7Pro, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T and probably OnePlus 5 and 5T.

Other Features:

The OnePlus 7T Pro now has a slightly insignificantly bigger battery of 4,085 mAh battery in comparison to 4,00o mAh on the OnePlus 7 Pro. I don’t know why OnePlus bothered to improve this 85mAh in capacity, but there you have it.

OnePlus has also included a 30T Warp Charger, which charges phone 23% faster than the previous generation Warp chargers. This new 30T charger can charge OnePlus 7T Pro in under an hour.

OnePlus has partnered with PUBG Mobile to optimize the game for the OnePlus 7T Pro. This means PUBG Mobile will perform better on OnePlus 7T Pro than other phones with the same hardware.

Apart from these, there is no visible difference or upgrade from the OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition:

Along with the regular 7T Pro, OnePlus has also introduced a special-edition OnePlus 7T Pro “McLaren Edition“. This variant is in partnership with McLaren automotive company — one of the major formula 1 constructor. This special-edition OnePlus 7t Pro comes with McLaren speed car inspired exterior design, color scheme, and few software changes to match the phone design. It comes with this Papaya Orange color border at the rear and the same color accent near the camera bump. There are a new icon pack and wallpapers inspired by the same design language. The McLaren Edition 7T Pro only comes in 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration.

Is OnePlus 7T Pro not Coming to the USA?

No, as of now, OnePlus has no plan launching OnePlus 7T Pro in the States. However, OnePlus has not denied that the fact that it might bring OnePlus 7T Pro in the USA sometimes in the future. Many people believe that OnePlus is planning to launch OnePlus 7T Pro 5G variant in the States as a carrier exclusive. We will let you know if anything changes in this regard.

What Do I Think of OnePlus 7T Pro?

I think OnePlus just launched this new variant for the sake of launching a new phone. There is nothing significant update on this phone to buy the phone. I understand that this “T” upgrade is generally very subtle, but this time it doesn’t even feel like an upgrade anymore. It just feels like OnePlus is doing this to be in the news for creating buzz around their device, and if that is the intention, then I see it working darn good for OnePlus.

What do you think of this upgrade? Do you agree with whatever I said about this device? Or do you think this upgrade from OnePlus 7 Pro to OnePlus 7T Pro is a significant upgrade? I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Let’s have a healthy discussion in the comment section below. If you agree with my views, then please share this article on your social media wall.
